Generative AI Policy
The Journal of Research in Computing and Applications (JORCAPS) recognises the rapid advancement and increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies across academic research and scholarly publishing. While the journal supports the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of such tools in accordance with international publication ethics and COPE guidelines, their application to manuscript writing is strictly governed by this policy.
Policy Statement
JORCAPS does not permit the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools to write, generate, paraphrase, or substantially revise any portion of a manuscript submitted to the journal. All submitted manuscripts must represent the original intellectual and written work of the listed authors.
Given that JORCAPS is a computing journal, authors should be particularly aware that this policy applies equally to AI-assisted generation of code descriptions, algorithm explanations, and technical analyses presented within the manuscript itself.
Scope of Prohibition
This prohibition applies to all parts of a submitted manuscript, including:
- Title and abstract
- Main body text, literature review, and methodology
- Results, discussion, and conclusion sections
- References and citations
- Cover letter and responses to reviewers
- Tables, figures, captions, and supplementary materials
Author Responsibilities
Authors must declare any use of AI-assisted tools (including ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or comparable platforms) at the point of submission. However, any use of GenAI for manuscript writing or substantial revision is considered unacceptable and may result in:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Withdrawal of the manuscript from consideration
- Retraction of published articles where a violation is subsequently confirmed
Authorship and Accountability
GenAI tools may not be listed as authors or contributors to a manuscript. Such tools are incapable of taking responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or reproducibility of research — all of which remain the sole responsibility of the human authors.
Reviewer and Editorial Guidelines
Reviewers and editorial team members must not upload manuscripts, peer review reports, confidential data, or any other sensitive journal materials to public or unsecured AI platforms.
Commitment to Research Integrity
JORCAPS maintains a zero-tolerance position on AI-generated or substantially AI-revised manuscripts in order to preserve the originality of technical contributions, uphold research integrity, and ensure the scientific rigour that the computing community depends upon.
